On 6th April, two teams from Oracle will take on the Guernsey Marathon Relay, running to raise ยฃ1,000 for the Priaulx Premature Baby Foundation (PPBF). This charity holds a special place in our hearts after the incredible support they provided to our colleague Jay and her family during their toughest time.

Jay was rushed to Southampton Hospital at 24 weeks pregnant after developing pre-eclampsia, and her son Theo arrived at just 28 weeks, weighing a tiny 800g. The PPBF provided Jay, her husband Martyn, and their older son Albie with compassionate housing at Isaacโ€™s Pad, just steps from the hospital. This gave them a safe and supportive space to stay close to Theo as he grew stronger.

In Jayโ€™s words: “When I found out what the team were doing and that it was in support of me and Theo, I was a little overwhelmed. Their support means everything to me. We are all very close at Oracle, and Iโ€™m glad the team want to give something back to the PPBF after what they did for me and my family.”

From Paul Patterson, who brought the teams together: “After hearing about Jayโ€™s (& Theoโ€™s) recent journey and the support that The Priaulx Premature Baby Foundation (PPBF) had given them, I was inspired to try and do something to help. I thought by us taking part in the Marathon Relay would be a good way to boost morale, get fit, and raise some money for PPBF.”

From Jo Priaulx, PPBF Co-Founder:
“Itโ€™s truly special when weโ€™re able to help a family, and in turn, inspire others-like employers-to give back as a gesture of solidarity. It’s astonishing how, no matter where you turn, youโ€™ll find someone connected to the PPBF-whether it’s a colleague who has experienced the challenges of a premature birth, a mutual friend who has stayed in our compassionate housing, or your own family. Despite what she went through, Jay always finds the time to champion us wherever possible, and weโ€™re so grateful that her Oracle family have decided to join her in such an active way. Weโ€™ll be cheering the Oracle Relay Team on, and we hope that the community will rally together to help them reach their target of ยฃ1,000.”

Inspired by Jayโ€™s journey, our colleague Paul brought the team together, combining experienced runners with first-timers who have worked their way through Couch to 5k. Even Jay herself is hoping to join her colleagues for the big day!

Your donations can make a real difference to families like Jayโ€™s. Every penny raised will help the PPBF continue providing vital care and support to families of premature and critically ill children.
